Is Falcon heavy named after the Millennium Falcon?

Did the Millennium Falcon inspire Falcon Heavy?

Elon Musk may be on the verge of being a trillionaire, but he’s a little kid at heart. He has said that the first movie he saw in theaters was “Star Wars: Empire Strikes”. He expressed how it was inspiring to him.

With that said, one of the biggest parts of Star Wars is the ship, “Millennium Falcon”. Han Solo is the captain of the ship. Of course, Chewbacca is his right hand man.

With that said, it must be known if Musk named his rocket, “Falcon Heavy”, after the Millennium Falcon. Well, it’s true. He did name his ship after the mystical Star Wars ship. There isn’t only “Falcon Heavy”, as there is also Falcon 1 and Falcon 9.

Musk was inspired by Star Wars and he has passed on the inspiration to others. Harrison Ford (who played Solo) was in attendance for launch of the massive Falcon heavy rocket. Thousands of other people lined up across the Florida coast to witness it. It’s one of the coolest things to witness. The beautiful thing is that it doesn’t cost anything to see. That’s the opposite of an autographed Luke Skywalker autograph.

In the “Force Awakens”, we witnessed the Falcon in a junkyard in Jakku. Thankfully, Rey “borrowed” the ship with help from Finn. Eventually, Solo and Chewie find the ship and reclaim ownership of the overly fast ship.

It’s hard to not fall in love with the Millennium Falcon when it jumps into lightspeed, especially when the main characters are sitting in the cockpit.

It has been widely reported that the Falcon will return to future movies, too. That should bring a smile to the millions of Star Wars fans across the globe.
