Why Chirrut Imwe was impressive in Rogue One

Chirrut Imwe was impressive

Chirrut Imwe is mystical, wise, and fierce. He is a blind spiritual monk. We witness him join tbe “gang” in Rogue One. He tries to help Jyn and Cassian from a group of stormtroopers. He says, “Let them pass in peace”. Chirrut uses a stick-like weapon to single-handedly take them down, too. This reminds me of the scene in “The Hangover 2”, where the monk uses a stick to attack Alan, Stu, and Phil.

Of course, he is helped by his pal, Baze, who shoots several stormtroopers with his blaster.

With that said, Chirrut is played by Donnie Yen. He is in “Ip Man”, “John Wick: Chapter 4”, and “Flash Point”. He is 62 years old.

Chirrut uses a cross-bow like weapon that shoots out lasers toward the end of the film. He bravely walks through gun-fire to pull the lever and pass on the secrets of the death-star to the rebels. It’s a suicide mission, and it cost him his life. Blaze is emotional about the situation and he tries to help Chirrut, but it’s too late.

Chirrut isn’t a Jedi, but he is in touch with the force. As a blind-man, he may have found motivation to practice the force more and more. If he had a lightsaber, he may pass as a Jedi. At least we know he was altruistic and powerful like a Jedi.

Millions of people, and I would enjoy to witness Chirrut in a “show”. The force tells me that he has a slick background and upbringing.
